Are you a freelancer who wants to work in the UAE? Good news! The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has announced a new online visa application process for freelancers. Now, you don't need to physically be in the UAE during the application. You can easily apply for the virtual work residence visa online.
With this change, you can work remotely from your current location while having a UAE visa. This visa is valid for one year and can be renewed later as per the UAE Government's terms and conditions.
To apply, you can use the ICP's website or the UAEICP smart application. Once your visa is approved, you have to enter the UAE within 60 days to complete the residence visa process. If you fail to enter within the given timeframe, your visa will become invalid.
To be eligible for this visa, you need a passport valid for at least six months, a recent photograph, and valid health insurance. Additionally, you must provide a bank statement showing a minimum earning of Dh360,000 for the last two years or its equivalent in any other currency. You also need to provide a salary slip from the previous month and three months' worth of bank statements.
If you meet the requirements, your visa will be approved, and you'll be notified via email. The visa fee is AED350 per person, and the financial guarantees are refundable if your application is declined by the ICP.
This new policy benefits both freelancers and companies. It gives freelancers more work flexibility and helps companies avoid the risks of retaining employees.
The UAE aims to support this trend and attract a diverse workforce by offering a supportive legal framework.
